Dr. Robert S. Donofrio is the Director of the Applied Research Center for NSF International. He previously served as NSF’s Director of the Microbiology and Molecular Biology Department. He has a PhD in Biological Sciences, MS in Microbiology, and BS in Biology.
Dr. Donofrio’s expertise embraces microbiology, laboratory technical operations, and biotechnology. His professional experience includes positions as Lead Microbiologist, BioRemedial Technologies; Adjunct Professor of Microbiology, Penn State University; Adjunct Professor of Biotechnology, Kent State University; Member of the Institute for Food Technology, and the American Society of Microbiology. He has served on the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB) Board of Directors, participated as a member of the Henry Ford Community College Biotechnology Advisory Board, and as Eastern Michigan University’s Biology Career Development Advisor. Dr. Donofrio’s media appearances include: Good Morning America, National Public Radio (NPR), Women’s Day, Martha Stewart, Family Circle, and Parents magazines.
